Blueberry tea infused apple crisp

  • 4 c water
  • 4 bags blueberry tea
  • 6 oz dried granny smith apples, chopped
  • lemon juice
  • 1 c oats
  • 1/2 c brown sugar
  • 1/2 c flour
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 8 T cold butter
  1. Boil water. Steep tea for 5 minutes. Return to a boil and add chopped dried apples. Reconstitute apples and partially reduce liquid. Add lemon juice to taste.
  2. Divide apples into oven-safe custard cups or ramekins. Put on a baking sheet. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  3. Mix remaining ingredients, cutting butter into the dry ingredients. Sprinkle generously over each cup of apples.
  4. Bake until bubbling and top is lightly brown, 30 minutes or so.
Makes at least 8 individual crisps.

Note: Trader Joes makes unsweetened, unsulfured dried Granny Smith apples. Other dried apples are probably too sweet.
