- 4 c water
- 4 bags blueberry tea
- 6 oz dried granny smith apples, chopped
- lemon juice
- 1 c oats
- 1/2 c brown sugar
- 1/2 c flour
- 1/2 t salt
- 8 T cold butter
- Boil water. Steep tea for 5 minutes. Return to a boil and add
chopped dried apples. Reconstitute apples and partially reduce liquid.
Add lemon juice to taste.
- Divide apples into oven-safe custard cups or ramekins. Put on a baking sheet. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Mix remaining ingredients, cutting butter into the dry ingredients. Sprinkle generously over each cup of apples.
- Bake until bubbling and top is lightly brown, 30 minutes or so.
Makes at least 8 individual crisps.
Note: Trader Joes makes unsweetened, unsulfured dried Granny Smith apples. Other dried apples are probably too sweet.
